Black Bear Hunting Season

In March of this year, Missouri Department of Conservation announced the state’s first black bear hunting season is scheduled for this fall, October 18-27, 2021. Three Bear Management Zones (BMZ) have been established in southern Missouri, with Camp Fiddlecreek and Camp Cedarledge both residing in BMZ 2.

To remain consistent with the closure of our camps during Modern Firearms Deer Hunting season, as the methods of hunting both bear and deer are similarly outlined by MDC, both Camp Fiddlecreek and Camp Cedarledge will close from October 18-27, 2021. Camp Tuckaho will remain open during those dates as it does not fall within a designated BMZ.

Those with a current facility reservation at Camp Fiddlecreek or Camp Cedarledge during the 2021 closure will be contacted regarding a rescheduling or a refund.

In future years, closure of camp facilities will be dependent upon the MDC announcement of a designated bear hunting season.
