April Showers is Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s largest community service program. Girl Scouts, along with their troop leaders and families dedicate the month of April to collecting personal care items to donate back into their community to help those struggling to purchase them. Launched in 1998 to fulfill an often-overlooked need, for 25 years the program has brought dignity and hope to others while instilling in girls of all ages a passion for community service. In 2023, Girl Scouts were able to support hundreds of agencies across eastern Missouri by donating almost 1.3 million essential personal care and hygiene items.
The 2023 Impact Sheet below demonstrates how the April Showers program benefits our community. The Donation Pathway infographic illustrates all the different ways donations were collected and who they benefit. Check it out!
We expect all Girl Scouts to participate, and we encourage their families and friends to join in the effort. Just as a single raindrop creates a splash that ripples outward, the April Showers community service project generates positive impacts that will be felt for years to come. Together, we make a difference!
