Volunteers who complete this blended-learning course may serve as
secondary-trained waterfront personnel required to assist in opening a
GSEM camp lake and in overseeing small-boat activities. Participants
will learn to prevent, recognize, and respond to various types of
aquatic emergencies, as well as perform self-rescue and non-swimming
rescues. They will also be introduced to the GSEM Waterfront Manual,
which outlines the waterfront Emergency Action Plan and waterfront
policies and procedures specific to our camps. The online portion must
be completed in gsLearn before attending the in-person skills session.

Note: Optional courses
available to take as an add-on to this course include Small Craft
Safety: Canoeing from 10 am-noon and/or Small Craft Safety: Sailing
from noon-2 pm. Select one or both options at checkout.
