Group Sewing Lessons/ Project Sewing
For the Girl Scouts we have developed a program called "Sewing the Seeds of Kindness"
Participants will sew a quilted flower (or collage flower). This program will be tailored to the badge where applicable.
The flowers will be "planted" in a public place for someone to find. A tag on the flower will direct the finder to a webpage, where they can submit a picture of the flower they found.
Any Girl Scout or troop is welcome to the Studio for just a fun outing as well, even if it is not for a badge.
At STEM the Gap Academy, we are a collective of diverse women in STEM with a mission to educate, inspire, and empower the next generation of girls in STEM. We are role models for girls to see themselves in these fields, eliminating the gender divide and ensuring that girls take their rightful places in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, which have long been male-dominated. Our vision is to raise a generation of girls who are skilful, fierce, persistent, resilient, and hopeful, prepared to be part of a future full of innovation and progress, knowing they have had a hand in building it.
About Our Classes
STEM the Gap Academy offers interactive virtual classes designed to empower girls with knowledge and help them earn their badges and fun patches in STEM. Our virtual workshops are unique because girls can participate alongside other Girl Scouts nationwide, creating a strong sense of sisterhood and community. You can sign your daughter up individually, or leaders can sign up their troops to participate in pre-scheduled classes. If you prefer a private class, we can also accommodate that, with a minimum of 12 Girl Scouts. Email us, and we will arrange a class for the requested day and time.
