Volunteers who complete this blended-learning course may serve as the secondary trained waterfront personnel required to assist in opening a GSEM camp lake and overseeing small craft activities. Participants will learn how to prevent, recognize and respond to many types of aquatic emergencies, as well as self-rescue and non-swimming rescues for aquatic emergencies. They will also be introduced to the GSEM Waterfront Manual, which outlines the waterfront Emergency Action Plan and waterfront policies and procedures specific to our camps. The online portion must be completed in gsLearn before attending the in-person skills session. This course is renewable every three years. Girl Scouts 16 years and older are welcome to participate.
