Volunteers who complete this blended-learning course may serve as the secondary trained waterfront personnel required to assist in opening a lake at any of our camp properties and oversee small craft activities. In this course, participants will learn how to prevent, recognize, and respond to many types of aquatic emergencies, as well as self-rescue and non-swimming rescues for aquatic emergencies. They will also be introduced to the GSEM Waterfront Manual, which outlines the waterfront Emergency Action Plan and waterfront policies and procedures specific to GSEM. The online portion must be completed in gsLearn before attending the in-person skills session. This course is renewable every three years.
