Important Girl Scout Summer Program Updates

Last updated April 30, 2020 at 12:45 p.m. CST

To our Girl Scouts, families, volunteers and supporters,

Your health and safety are our number one priority.

Over the past weeks, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri has made many operational decisions based on guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and local/state mandates due to COVID-19.

Out of an abundance of caution for our Girl Scouts and extended Girl Scout family, we have made the tough decision to extend our current in-person program suspension. All in-person Girl Scout programs, troop camping and events, including Girl Scout school activities and facility rentals, are canceled through at least Friday, July 31, and all resident and day camps are canceled through summer 2020.

We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate these unprecedented times. After careful deliberation, we decided it is best not to bring girls, volunteers, and staff together in large groups this summer. We ask that during this time, you also suspend your in-person Girl Scout activities, including day and troop camp (on and off-Council-owned sites), troop meetings, trainings, and district/neighborhood meetings through at least Friday, July 31. We hope you will continue these activities virtually, to the best of your ability, and we are here to help.

We will develop, implement, and offer virtual summer programs and camp opportunities so our girls will continue to build leadership skills, make friends and memories all while having fun. We will communicate those plans and opportunities in the coming days and weeks. New adventures, including camping expeditions, activities and much more, will continue to be rolled out and announced on our Girl Scouting from Home microsite.

We are providing a detailed Q&A to help answer your questions.
The Q&A is updated in real-time, and our Answer Center is available to help answer any additional questions you may have. You may reach the Answer Center during regular business hours at

GSEM Facility Closure

All GSEM facilities, including camps, shops and resource/service/program centers/offices, are currently closed. We encourage you to use our online shop during this time.

Council staff are working remotely. Staff who perform essential Council functions that require physical presence at a Girl Scout property may be scheduled on a staggered basis to limit potential contact.

Refunds on Activities

Those registered for a camp or program experience will automatically receive a full refund. If you would like to donate all or part of your program cost to support ongoing programming, please contact the Answer Center before the end of day Monday, May 4th.

Refunds will be processed in order of program/camp date. Most refunds will be processed using the payment method used. Some troop camp refunds will need to be done via check. We appreciate your patience in allowing up to 30-45 days for processing. Feel free to contact the Answer Center with any questions. We encourage you to email rather than calling when possible to assist our staff in getting refunds to you as quickly as possible.

Girl Scouting from Home

As Girl Scouts, we live by the motto "be prepared" - and that includes when the unexpected happens. While we ask that all members continue to follow the guidance of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and their local health officials and cease in-person meetings, we want to deliver the opportunity for Girl Scouting to continue at home.
