St. Louis, MO – October 24, 2023 – Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri (GSEM) is pleased to announce that Girl Scout Senior, Legacy Jackson, will be the first teen in Missouri to present a TedTalk, when she takes the stage on Friday, October 27 as part of the TEDxStLouis Women Two Steps Forward event at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the campus of University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Legacy Jackson, a GSEM member since 2015 and freshman at Cardinal Ritter College Prep Academy, will be speaking on how her service organization, Little Legacies, is impacting the St. Louis area, developing young change-makers and teaching area youth how to have fun with a purpose. Legacy, a Bronze and Silver Award Girl Scout, is currently working towards her Girl Scout Gold Award, the most prestigious award in Girl Scouts.
“I am honored to be the youngest person and the first youth in Missouri to deliver a TedTalk because I believed I could and I did!” said Legacy. “I am excited to share my legacy of service and the work that my 501c3 Community Service Organization, Little Legacies, has done. I hope to inspire others to live with purpose while doing something to help others. There is no force more powerful than a girl who is determined and at 14-years-old, I know that there are no limits to what I can accomplish. Confidence is the key, success is the mindset and doing good to change the world is the goal!
"Legacy serves as an exemplary role model for her peers by demonstrating what is possible when you identify your goals and strive to achieve them with bold confidence, diligence and hard work!” said Natissia Small, Ed.D. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s CEO. "Being the first TEDX teen in the state of Missouri is notable and the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri is proud of Legacy’s extraordinary achievement as she is truly impacting the world through her leadership abilities!”
