Dessert First 2022

On Thursday, February 24, 2022 nearly 500 Girl Scout supporters joined together in-person and virtually to celebrate Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s 11th annual Dessert First. For the first time in a hybrid format, the evening was a chance to honor the extraordinary achievements of Girl Scout Gold Awardees, the dedicated service and support of Legacy Builders, and the culinary creativity of St. Louis’ top chefs.

The event was a huge success with $300,000 raised to support Girl Scouts’ leadership development programs for girls—surpassing all expectations.

The evening began with the Girl Scout Cookie-inspired dessert competition at the Chase Park Plaza Royal Sonesta, followed by a seated dinner and program. The unique desserts were created by 8 local chefs, listed below. April Mathews won People’s Choice for her Toffee-Tastic inspired dessert. Virtual attendees enjoyed home delivery of dinner, wine and a Girl Scout Cookie-inspired dessert before joining the live stream program.

The event also celebrated Anushka Rawat and Nichole Hofmann, two lifelong Girl Scouts who have completed their Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting. Both Anushka and Nichole were awarded $5,000 scholarships to be used for higher education.

Capping off the evening was the historic announcement of the Her Future is Our Future Campaign. The Her Future is Our Future Campaign is the largest-ever investment in girl youth development in the region led by Campaign Committee Chair Jo Ann Taylor Kindle.  All funds raised during the event support this important initiative.
