Local leaders present world-changing projects at annual showcase

This Sunday, June 9, 885 eastern Missouri G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders) TM will be recognized by Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri for earning the organization’s highest community service awards at their annual Reflections ceremony. FORTY-FOUR of these Girl Scouts earned the Gold Award, the pinnacle of the Girl Scout experience. These bold and innovative change-makers will be informing the public about their sustainable projects during a special Gold Award Showcase before the event.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri invites the public to join the organization’s Gold Award Girl Scouts at the Showcase from 1:15-2:15 pm at the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts at Lindenwood University. The Girl Scouts who earned the Gold Award are exceptional community leaders who have completed a remarkable project leaving a positive and permanent mark on the world.

Some of the Gold Award Girl Scouts who will be at the Showcase include:

  • a St. Peters Girl Scout who is ensuring a safe school environment by curating 30 buddy buckets filled with emergency essentials like first-aid kits and tourniquets;
  • a St. Louis Girl Scout who created a patent-pending tool that will help athletes with a chronic medical condition compete safely and;
  • a St. Charles Girl Scout who worked tirelessly to ensure the musical history and traditions of the Louis and Clark Fife and Drum Corps lives on.
