Kirksville, MO — August 16, 2018 — GSR-2BD is an annual Day Camp hosted by Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s 15th District during which the participating G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders) TM learn new outdoor skills, explore science and learning activities and build life-long friendships. This week-long experience concluded with a derby car event.
Every year at the Day Camp, Northeast Girl Scouts select a service project, and for the 2018 Girl Scout school year they chose the North Central Missouri Chapter of the Linus project. Community service is a huge part of being a Girl Scout and these local go-getters, innovators, risk-takers and leaders have already donated 50 blankets to the organization.
“One of the things I learned as a Girl Scout is how to be more civic-minded,” Lillian Orskog, a Gold Award Girl Scout, said. “Giving back to my community is one of my favorite Girl Scout activities, I like to know that I’m helping those who need it.”
