Local Lenten fish fries get a little sweeter

St. Louis, MO – March 2, 2017 – Lent isn’t complete without a fish fry at the local church. Beginning March 3, Girl Scouts across eastern Missouri will partner with local Catholic churches to hold cookie booths at local fish fries. A list of upcoming fish fry cookie booths is included below.

“Girl Scout Cookies are the perfect palate cleanser after a delicious meal with family and friends during Lent,” said Erin Eberhard, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s Director of Product Programs. “If you’ve given up sweets for Lent, you can still give back to the community by purchasing cookies to be donated to the USO of Missouri through the Troop to Troop program.”

Participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls five essential skills: people skills, decision making, money management, goal setting and business ethics. Proceeds from cookies help troops perform community service projects, earn badges and have amazing experiences. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest girl-led enterprise in the country. Many Girl Scout alumnae trace their first leadership and entrepreneurial experience back to selling Girl Scout Cookies, a long-standing tradition that spans many generations of women.
