Dessert First

On Thursday, February 23, 2017 over 500 people gathered to celebrate the 6th anniversary of Dessert First. The evening was a chance to come together to honor the extraordinary achievements of Girl Scout Gold Awardees, the dedicated service of Individual Legacy Builders, the transformational support of Corporate Legacy Builders, and the culinary creativity of St. Louis’ top chefs.

The event was a huge success with over $381,000 raised to support Girl Scouts leadership development programs for girls—surpassing all expectations. 

Guests enjoyed Girl Scout Cookie-inspired desserts during cocktail hour. The unique desserts were created by 16 local chefs, listed below. 

Eric Phillips, The Chase Park Plaza Executive Pastry Chef, won Judges’ Choice for his Savannah Smiles Back, with Savannah cookie crust, lemon curd and raspberry jelly. Tyler Davis, Pastry Chef at Element Restaurant and Lounge, wowed guests with his white chocolate coconut crème brulee with Samoa crust and passionfruit gel.

Legacy Builders
The event honored Express Scripts as our Corporate Legacy Builder and Mary Ann Altergott as our Individual Legacy Builder.  Both Legacy Builders have provided enormous support and service to Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.


Scholarship Recipients
The event also celebrated Sarah Ayers and Allison Licavoli, two lifelong Girl Scouts who have completed their Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting. Both Sarah and Allison were awarded $5,000 scholarships to be used for higher education.


Capping off the evening, guests donated $114,000 to the organization, of which $100,000 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by The Berges Family Foundation.
