Girl Scout Cookie Season Kicks Off Fifth Anniversary of “Troop to Troop,” A Partnership with USO of Missouri

St. Louis, MO – January 4, 2018 – It’s that tasty time of the year, Girl Scout Cookie season begins Saturday, Jan. 6. This year, also, marks the fifth anniversary of the organization’s “Troop to Troop” program, which is a partnership with the USO of Missouri. Through the “Troop to Troop” program, Girl Scout Cookie customers can purchase packages of Girl Scout Cookies for members of the United States armed services. This program provides military service personnel a “taste of home,” and is a way for Girl Scouts and their charitable customers to thank them for their service.

Digital Cookie debuts in eastern Missouri:
New this year, Girl Scouts are using Digital Cookie, an online tool that’s preparing them to be future leaders in a growing e-commerce world. By using Digital Cookie, girls market their online cookie business two ways: inviting customers to visit a personalized cookie website, or by taking in-person orders using a mobile app. With this tool, Girl Scouts are ramping up on skills that put them ahead of the curve when entering the workforce.

On the platform, girls can set their cookie goals, track their progress, manage orders and inventory, learn Internet safety skills, and more—all while they earn age-specific Cookie Business badges and explore ways to help others by investing their earnings back into their communities.

More than half (57 percent) of Girl Scout alumnae in business fields credit the Girl Scout Cookie Program® with developing skills they use today—including money management, goal setting, and public speaking—participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program has helped millions of female entrepreneurs over the past 100 years spark their careers.

Empowering our next generation of leaders:
The Girl Scout Cookie program is the largest girl-led enterprise in the country and eastern Missouri customers help facilitate these amazing experiences for girls—experiences that broaden their worlds and prepare them to practice a lifetime of leadership. Since 100 percent of the money stays local, customers not only support girls’ success but the success of the eastern Missouri community, too. By taking part in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, Girl Scouts from eastern Missouri power important community service programs like “Troop to Troop.”

This season, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri troops are welcoming the return of the Girl Scout S'mores cookie, the most popular flavor to launch in the 101 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies. Customers can fuel transformative leadership experiences for girls and help build the next generation of female entrepreneurs by purchasing Girl Scout S'mores as well as classic favorites like Thin Mints® and Samoas®.
