Scholarship opportunities available are listed below.  Check back often as new information will be posted as it becomes available.

Maximum award: full scholarship to summer program, college admissions counseling, and attendance at college preparatory conferences. Eligibility: qualified low-income high school juniors.  Learn more here.
  • The Girls Going Places® Entrepreneurship Award Program is accepting entries.  This annual initiative is designed to reward the enterprising spirits of girls.  In 2010, Guardian will award prizes to fifteen girls who demonstrate budding entrepreneurship, are taking the first steps toward financial independence, and make a difference in their schools and communities.  To be eligible, a nominee must be between the ages of 12 and 18 as of December 31, 2009; be enrolled in middle school or high school; and be a U.S. legal resident.  Prizes totaling $30,000 will be granted to three top winners and twelve finalists to further their entrepreneurial pursuits or save for college. Submissions received after the deadline date will be entered in the 2011 competition.  Click here for more information.  Submissions received after February 26, 2010 will be entered into the 2011 competition.

  • Computer Science Scholarship available for high school seniors
Dr. Anita Borg devoted her adult life to revolutionizing the way we think about technology and dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology fields.  In her honor, Google has created a scholarship opportunity for female high school seniors looking to study computer science when they attend college. The scholars will be chosen from the applicant pool, and scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate's academic background, passion for computer science, community service and leadership. Recipients of the scholarship will each receive a $10,000 award. While the deadline for 2010 applications has passed, check the site near the end of the year for information for the 2011 application process.
  • Evans Scholars Foundation Scholarship Program                                         This program provides undergraduate scholarships for deserving golf caddies.  Each scholarship covers full tuition and housing at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and can be renewed for four years.  In 2010, ten St. Louis area caddies were awarded this scholarship.  To be eligible, you must have a successful golf caddie record for at least two years; have at least a B average in college prep classes; present a legitimate need for financial assistance; be of outstanding character, integrity and leadership; and apply for the scholarship in your junior year of high school.  It is highly recommended that if you are interested in pursuing this scholarship in your junior year, that you look into getting a job as a golf caddie around age 14 so that you are able to get in two years of service before applying.  You don’t have to know anything about golf to be a caddie, as you will be trained.  There are 16 private golf clubs in the St. Louis area that offer active caddie programs and training.  The local contact can also connect you to a golf club if you are from outside the St. Louis area.  (Being a caddie can also be a great way to earn spending money.)  If you’d like to find out more about becoming a caddie or the scholarship program, click here for general information, or contact Jerry Freeland at 314.993.2551, jerry.freeland@gmail.com for local information.
