GSEM Leadership Academy is now Leadership FUNdamentals
Held annually on the same day as GSEM's Fall Representative Assembly, Leadership FUNdamentals provides new and experienced volunteers an opportunity for a fun-filled day of learning, networking, idea-sharing and plenty of Girl Scout spirit. Participants may choose from a variety of informative "FUNshops" designed to help Girl Scout leaders prepare for a new Girl Scout year and meet/network with volunteers throughout GSEM.

SAVE THE DATE!
Leadership FUNdamentals, along with the 2010 Fall Representative Assembly, will be held Saturday October 2, 2010 at Maritz, Fenton MO.  Mark your calendar so you don’t miss this very popular event!

Representative Assembly is the membership body of GSEM. Members of Representative Assembly elect officers of GSEM, the members-at-large of the Board of Directors, members of the Board Development Committee, and delegates/alternates to the National Council of GSUSA. The assembly determines the general direction for Girl Scouting locally by receiving and acting upon reports of the Board of Directors and giving guidance to the Board. GSEM holds two meetings annually, one in the fall and spring.

Open Space Discussions at Rep Assembly
Open Space Discussions allow participants (who share an interest in a particular topic) to get together and discuss that topic. The room is set up in twenty circles of chairs, with each circle hosting a different topic. You can join any circle – at any time – as many times as you’d like – to listen or discuss that circle’s topic. A list of discussion topics will be available in upcoming issues of Neighborhood Announcements and online.

Each circle has its own facilitator whose role is to ensure the group stays on topic and someone from the group takes notes. There is a sign-in sheet for each circle. If question(s) arise, the council can communicate with the group regarding that topic. At the end of Open Space Discussion, all notes are posted, then transcribed and posted on the council Web site. The notes are then referred to the appropriate committee/group/person for any further discussion or actions.
