All Aboard: Maggie Travels The World, Leaves Today On Eaglet 1!

Attention all Girl Scouts - the newest traveling Girl Scout is prepared for departure!

Maggie, pictured here in her hot-air balloon (named Eaglet 1), is about to embark on an adventure around the world, with stops on every continent. She is a Girl Scout Ambassador, 17 years old, and is the great-great granddaughter of Margaret. Who's Margaret? Back in 1918, Girl Scouts could follow the adventures of Margaret, a Girl Scout on her way to earning the Golden Eaglet, the highest award possible for a Girl Scout at the time. She even had a film made about her - for a 94-year-old movie, it still looks pretty good! (Link leads to Youtube, where you can watch the entire 20-minute movie).

Margaret was a pioneer for her time, and so too is her descendent, Maggie. Maggie has dreamed for years of traveling overseas, and it's up to you to guess where she'll be landing! For every correct guess, you win an entry into our Balloon Glow contest - where two lucky winners get to take a ride in a real hot-air balloon during the Great Forest Park Balloon Race. Maggie will be sending us pictures every Monday from now until September 1. We'll post them here on this blog, with links on Twitter and Facebook. To enter the contest, follow these steps:

1. "Like" us on facebook here (note: this is our Alumni facebook page, not our council page.)
2. Make sure you're signed up for Scouting for Girl Scouts
3. When a picture is posted, leave a comment ON THE BLOG ENTRY with your name, email, and guess as to where Maggie is this week
4. If you're correct, and you have followed steps 1 and 2, we'll enter you into the Balloon Glow drawing!

And with that, she's off east - where will she land on Monday? Make sure you follow along on the blog to see where Maggie will end up next!
