Imagine a place where you can learn how to ride a horse, discover your inner artist, develop peer leadership skills through outdoor activities, meet some of the region's top female leaders, submerge yourself in a scuba adventure and explore the world of wacky science and engineering. Such a place does exist for girls ages 5 through 17—Girl Scout summer camp.
The benefits of camp are wonderful; however, the cost to attend is a hardship for many girls. More than 14,000 girls attend Girl Scout camps in Eastern Missouri each year—but not all of them can afford to do so. In 2012, more than 430 girls received financial assistance—and would not have been able to attend camp otherwise. A gift to camp scholarships will make the camp experience possible for all girls.
In addition to scholarships, camp registration fees only cover 30% of the actual cost to safely operate Camp Cedarledge, Camp Fiddlecreek and Camp Tuckaho; to bring in talented and smart leaders; and to pay for food and supplies. Support from people like you contributes to the subsidy necessary to maintain these camps. We simply cannot succeed without your financial support.
